'The Wisdom Tradition of the Celts

Druidism is most notably connected with the Celts, an Iron Age culture whose earliest artifacts have been found in the Hallstat region bordering Switzerland and Austria. Druidism has its roots in early Indo-European shamanism, and many of the recorded myths of the Celtic peoples point to an exchange of knowledge between them and early middle eastern cultures such as the Babylonians, Chaldeans, and the Greeks. In light of recent anthropological findings, there is much evidence to suggest that the Celtic and Teutonic tribes share common origins; therefore there may be teutonic influences within the strata of Celtic religion. The Druids were the priestly class of the Celts, although Druidry may have originated in a more obscure culture who records are lost to the shadowed veils of prehistory.
